Hefei Normal University is located in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province. The school was formerly known as Anhui Education College, founded in 1955, and was renovated into a provincial full-time undergraduate institution in 2007. The school is one of the first pilot units for the training of professional degree graduate students serving the special needs of the country, the first implementation unit for the demonstration training project of the national training plan, the first pilot unit for the excellent teacher training plan, the first construction university for "local applied high-level universities" in Anhui Province, and the first comprehensive reform pilot university for "all-round education" in Anhui Province.
The school currently has 14 secondary colleges, 59 undergraduate majors, and 11 education master's degree graduate training directions.
